The Jesus I Want You to Know

There are moments when words flow from the heart before they ever pass through the mind. The poem I share below came from one of those moments. A moment of quiet reflection on the Jesus I've come to know, not just through scripture or sermons, but through personal experience.

This poem is more than words on a page. It’s a window into how Jesus has shown up for me, and how I know He will show up for you. Each line is drawn from real experience of how I’ve come to know Jesus in the everyday parts of life, in the wrestles, in the mess, in the quiet, in the chaos, and in my deep desire to be seen and known.

We often speak of Jesus Christ as our Savior, and rightfully so.

Jesus saves us. But what I’ve come to treasure is how He stays with us.

Jesus doesn’t just rescue; He remains with us.

Jesus doesn’t just forgive, He transforms.

And Jesus doesn’t just watch, He walks with us.

The Jesus I want you to know is fiercely personal. He enters into our ordinary, imperfect moments, and meets us there. His presence carries a peace that surpasses understanding, a love that quiets the loudest storms, and a strength that holds us when we can no longer hold ourselves.

Even when the road feels long, you're never walking alone. Jesus walks with us.
Even when the road feels long, you're never walking alone. Jesus walks with us.

If you are reading this and wondering if Jesus could really show up for me, I want you to know He already is. In ways you may not yet see. Jesus already believes in you. Jesus already knows you…and your story. And still, Jesus loves you...fully, completely, and without conditions. Let this be an invitation to let Him in.

Because the Jesus I want you to know…the real Jesus…is already relentlessly pursuing you.

My hope in sharing this is simple: that you will allow Christ to become a greater part of your life and begin to notice the ways He is already showing up for you too.

The Jesus I Want You to Know

Jesus, my Savior, the very thought of Thee

Brings happiness, peace and comfort, causing darkness to flee.

His loving words that pierce the soul so warm and kind,

Pure, gentle, patient, and powerful, His character is so sublime.

Pierced hands, feet, and side, all reminders for me that He lives

Oh, how I wish all could know the majesty of love He to us wants to give.

My Advocate who for me ever does plead.

He trusts, and in me He does always believe.

To the wounded and weary, His love remains strong

Arms outstretched; in His presence I belong.

He knows me, and at my worst, He remains a True Friend

He lives with a love that will not ever end.

A Perfect Love that never ceases in pure charity,

The Greatest of All who never faileth, I feel an indisputable clarity.

To my hungry soul and in my wants He feeds,

Radically Generous to meet and even exceed my needs.

An Advisor who lights the way as My Guide,

In the small details, the difficult, or the dark…with me He Abides.

He walks with me on dark lonely nights,

On long drives, desert sands, overwhelming days, and mountain hikes.

He never quits, never accepts defeat, and never leaves one who has fallen.

In prison cells, outcast wells, war-torn lives, and with those in sin - He is All In.

To those who have wandered, rebelled, who may feel abandoned, hopeless, and alone,

Do not delay for Jesus gladly takes our pain and sin, He bears our grief

With mercy, He intercedes, light He brings, His victory is Eternal Relief.

To the wounded, weary, and lost…please seek Jesus who gives rest.

Come unto me He fervently pleads. Come let the peace that awaits be our daily quest.

Jesus listens, Jesus loves, Jesus sends angels from above.

To lift, surround, and encourage us forever in love.

Seek Jesus today! Seek Jesus today!

You will come to know He was never away.

"Learn of me...and you shall have peace in me." (Doctrine and Covenants 19:23)
"Learn of me...and you shall have peace in me." (Doctrine and Covenants 19:23)

Every stanza in this poem holds a piece of my journey with Christ. I've met him in lonely drives and during long nights. I felt His comfort in moments of overwhelming grief and uncertainty. He showed me that He's not just a Savior for the righteous. He's a Friend, and a Relentless Pursuer of the lost, lonely, or sad.

This poem is a reflection of how Christ has shown up for me…sometimes boldly, sometimes quietly…but always faithfully.

The Jesus I want you to know it's not confined to a Sunday worship or moments of crisis. He's in the details. In the dishes, the commutes, the tears you don't show, the dreams you're scared to speak aloud. He walks through the mundane and the miraculous with equal devotion.

And when we've wandered…especially when we've wandered, He doesn't wait for us to return in shame. He runs towards us. He meets us in the dark valleys, in the prison cells of our grief, in the places we feel too far gone, and He brings us home.

The Jesus I want you to know is not just a Savior for someday…He is a Savior for right now. In the mess, in the pain, in the longing, in the silence. Jesus is already there.

Sometimes we don’t recognize Him, not because He is absent, but because He comes in ways we didn’t expect: Through the words of a friend, the peace after a hard cry, the sunset, or a heart-touching song, all giving quiet strength to face another day. Jesus comes in the quiet tug on your heart that seems to say, “There’s more.”

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." (John 14:27)
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." (John 14:27)

This is my invitation to you: Let Jesus in. Let Jesus be part of your life. Not just the polished parts, but the real parts, the hidden parts, the hurting parts.

Jesus already knows your story. Jesus already knows your heart. Jesus knows, because He has been with you all along. Jesus wants you to recognize Him as He walks with you. Jesus wants to hear you. Jesus wants to heal you. Jesus wants to lift you. And Jesus wants to fill you with a love that will never and can never end. Jesus loves you, fully completely, and without condition.

You don't have to have all the answers. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a little space in your heart to say, “Jesus if you're near, I want to know you.”

Jesus will show you that He never left. Jesus was never away. Jesus is already reaching out to you.
