Look a Little Closer… It’s the Face of God
Do you know who you are? Do you know how deeply you are loved?
Do you know who you are? Do you know you have the literal DNA of our Heavenly Parents in you? Do you know that you are Their child?
Do you know that they love you with a love that cannot and will not end… no matter what?
You are a beloved child of Heavenly Parents. Their divine nature is part of who you are. Before anyone measured your performance, valued your worth, noticed your mistakes, or formed an opinion about you, you were already precious to Them…and you still are.
Their love reaches you where you are… in your struggles, your doubts, in your worry and in the parts of your life you're trying to put back together.
You don't have to earn your place as Their child. You don't have to earn Their love. And when you look in the mirror, remember to offer yourself that same tenderness.
Look into the eyes of the person beside you. Not just at their eyes but look deep in their eyes. Look long enough and deep enough to remember that there is a whole life behind those eyes. A child who once reached out for someone's hands. A heart that is hoping, struggling, feeling disappointment, and who is trying again. Behind those eyes is someone who may be barely holding on.
Consider how our loving Heavenly Parents might look into those eyes. What tenderness would They feel? What relationship or connection with there be? What pain would They understand? What goodness would They recognize that we have yet to see?
Sometimes a person's behavior takes up so much space that we struggle to see the person. We see a sharp response, the withdrawal, the bitterness, or the mistake. Hidden beneath it may be fear, grief, loneliness, or wounds that the person doesn't know how to explain and that we can't readily see.
Before we respond, pause.
Remember, you are looking at someone who our Heavenly Parents absolutely treasure. Their divine worth remains even when choices make it difficult to recognize. We may be standing beside someone who has forgotten they belong, who has lost their way, or someone who just needs another person to help them remember who they are, and their divine worth.
The Face of God
Perhaps this is part of what it means to love another person is to see the face of God. As we love another person, we begin to understand the nature of our Heavenly Parents more. We come to know and understand better as we participate in reaching out to their children.

We learn about the patience of our Heavenly Parents by being patient. We learn about Their love by loving others. We come to understand the mercy of God by ourselves extending mercy, especially when it costs something from us.
We discover deeper the tenderness of our Heavenly Parents and Their sincere concern when we stop and allow another person's pain to move us to stop, when we help, listen, and to lift.
And in the process, something happens within us. Love changes the person that loves. The love of our Heavenly Parents can make room within us for compassion we could not bring alone. We begin to recognize the character of our Heavenly Parents take shape within us.
There is unimaginable glory in the people around us. There is not a single person who isn't a God or goddess. When we lift tired hands or help carry a burden, we can understand deeper how our Heavenly Parents reach out to help us when we are tired, ashamed, or lonely. Their love reaches out to us too.
If we want to see God in our life, go love somebody.
